I have applied to FEMA for assistance 3 times in 8 years and have been denied assistance with one appeal that was also denied. The last application began in Oct.
2024, and an adjustment was made 2 months later to give form a new application. The online account was having glitches, and the phone people were just putting me off.
If the information that rejected the appeal would have been given to me shortly thereafter, I would have withdrawn the application. The reason being either lack of knowledge or red tape!

I applied in October 2024 and I finally got approved. I'm waiting for a caseworker to please sign off to issue my check.
I think it's been long enough. I don't understand what the hold-up is. Every time I call FEMA, they either hang up on me, or they lie to me and tell me it'll be a couple more days. It's been a month since I've gotten approved.
What is the problem here? Hello, #63509****.

Well, well, well, guess who just called me...FEMA...again, they wanted to let me know that I was denied. They want me to send in some false information concerning damages to the rental house I am living in.
I applied for the $750.00 emergency money to replace the food I lost while being without power for eleven days. There was no physical damage. Idiots.
I refuse to lie, cheat or steal just to get what should have been given freely from FEMA. Instead, they want to give it to the migrants.

I applied in October 2024 for Hurricane Milton assistance. I finally got assistance, and two days before they sent the money, my account got closed due to not having enough funds in there.
I'm living in my car now for almost five months, and all that has to be done is for a caseworker to sign off on it to send it to Tallahassee. I get hung up on when I call. I don't get any answers, I get lies - a couple more days, a couple more days. It's been a month already since you guys had my check again.
Just sign off and re-issue my check, please. Case number 63509****. How hard is it? I've already provided my new banking information.
You guys sent it once, what is the problem to sign off? I just sent my check.

I send information, I get denied, I appeal, resend information adding homeowners' insurance proof and I sit here like an idiot waiting to get no change on the website or nothing stating the appeal is in effect. For a government entity, I have to say, maybe fix your website and give us more detail on info because since all you do is waste my time, good news another poor American has to suffer because of your incompetence.
Thanks for making me think we have a government that helps people, you choose who you want to help, you're a terrible resource that gives people hope and then rips it away from them. So thanks for giving me false expectations, I would rather be homeless than waste my time with FEMA. Oh yes, thank you for the lodging that I never applied for. I applied for personal property damage and house damage, total amount $3200.00 but it's okay that's nothing right?
Who cares he's still alive, his home is still standing.
My point, you're useless, you should not exist if you don't do what you are meant to do. So just stop helping, so we can plan and get the insurance to cover since there really is no help.

Hurricane Milton did a lot of damage to my motorhome, where I rode out the hurricane. The bathroom's water-damaged walls are down.
The roof has two holes. There's water damage under the cubbies in the slide; both awnings are gone. The shredded air conditioner covers are gone. The microwave is ruined by water, and the stove is gone.
They don't give you enough space, or any at all, to explain. We have no power, and the food is gone. They simply said, 'DENIED'. My neighbor received 750 bucks in three days with less damage than me.
FEMA, you are terrible.
I understand people are homeless. I don't want immediate assistance, but I hope for something in time.

I was in Helene. My roof leaked inside my walls which messed my electrical up in livingroom and kitchen.
Messed floors in 2 rooms up. My wall in livingroom was bubbled out really bad so walls needs replaced,the leaked ,roof needs patched fixed whichever. The kitchen ceiling is hanging some also. One bathroom leaked the floor needs tile put back down.
Also one of the roome water was coming from light fixture. They gave me 5,278 to fix all this. How the *** am I suplkse to do that. The damn illegals got MONEY FOR CARS,HOMES,HELP TO RENEW THEIR CREDIT AND MONEY TO START BUSINESS..
WTF ABOUT US??? WE GET *** ON OVER AND OVER. I VOTED FOR TRUMP HE TOOK OVER FEMA HE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO IT BECAUSE THIS IS COMPLETE BS.

I went on the reviews like everybody else cuz I had a question how long is it going to take cuz it's been 3 months and as I was looking only saw like recently 10 days 10 days 10 days till I kept going and I came upon two months and I read her review and then I read after all the reviews after that and I come to the conclusion that FEMA's dealing with millions of people millions so we can expect them to jump at our beck and call right away you have to understand millions so what I did was in my mindset of course I have sympathy for FEMA and the people that work for them I've been calling every day maybe since this started or maybe a few days after I did that too but mostly a lot everyday or every other day and I still haven't got anywhere and it's 3 months I finally have to really kind of begging to I mean I don't know how many you have to call before they have to listen to you I don't know how that works but in my mind I still had a positive thought and in my heart I felt Fatima with all the people that they have to do at the end of this conclusion as I wait on the phone and first is 30 minutes and turns into an hour then they switched me to each individual instead of switching me to the right individual the first switch so I started thinking to myself after you know they specify it might take 30 minutes you know hey that's okay I've been waiting anyway second one the third one and then absolutely the fourth one you're aggravated so you're saying excuse me but can you send me to the right person not individuals that have nothing to do with the question that I'm asking and that is only for voucher that they gave out to everyone in the beginning of this disaster but since I ran home for the broken all the people in the broken house they all ask for voucher and one of the stipulations is if more than one person it is saying that they need FEMA it automatically gets denied so you know what I did right I had to go to the corporate office get the paperwork and Jesus everything I did and I still had a positive mind you know why cuz I love the Lord and I know something good is going to come out of this so as I get to the end of this story and as I'm sitting right now as I'm telling you this story I have female on the line and it says it's going to be 3 hours the estimate of your time is 3 hours and I've already been waiting for about two I've come to the conclusion that either one they do this that they just say that you know maybe they made a agreement together as one whole that they can't tell on each other who knows look what's going on in celebrity world who knows the bottom line is this 3 hours 2 hours 4 hours 5 hours all I wanted was a voucher a voucher do you see how that came online 3 hours 2 hours 4 hours yeah that's crazy isn't it I don't know where I'm going to go next from here but I'm just going to wait till my phone dies and then I will give you the conclusion of this FEMA outcome thank you for reading and I'm still going to be positive to the end.

During transition between hotels I am on the fifth night of sleeping in my car due to computer error, although I still have several days of housing left. Agents in the call center were anything but rude.
However, after several hours of holding, dropped calls etc. I visited a DRC and within 30 minutes the agents assisting me were making things happen. My issue is not yet resolved as of yet.Today, however, there's a direct contact in Washington. My calls were answered and returned promptly.
The entire staff was kind, compassionate and working hard to get the issue resolved.
The cars cold again tonight but my last 12 hours is producing better results than the last 5 days. I'm grateful.

When I applied I was denied. I appealed and was denied.
Email after email from the administrator, each one asking for info I that was already uploaded. They denied me BEFORE the inspection was completed which proved alI our damages. I want to know how much money they were givien and WHERE is it going. FEMA has proven to me how CORRUPT they are.
If you are REPUBLICAN you are automatically denied. When I called, every single time I I was told how many disasters they are dealing with.
Okay, after five months when will it be MY turn??!! Time to drain the FEMA swamp!!n

With several days of tsa left im spending my fifth night in the car. The phone agents were polite, however, after several hours of on hold, no results and dropped calls I visited a DRC.
The agents were kind, compassionate and within 5 minutes of assessing the problem had the ball rolling. Upon leaving I had a direct line to someone. Calls have been answered and returned promptly. Twelve hours have produced more than four days.
My issue isn't resolved yet but as hard as these guys worked today I have faith. 4 stars for sure.

Why do we have an organization that respond to other countries before they help the people in need. No organization for emergency purposes to be handled this bad.

Life in Ga after Milton
A whopping 1 coworker of the 14 we have at the small business I'm at was actually assigned a helpful agent. That's also the EXACT number of people I know from work and my neighborhood FB page that actually received any assistance.
I had 3 line items listed: generator, a single tree removal, and lodging... The last being a whopping 2 days of having running water and electricity out of the 6 days we were without both. The generator I lost the receipt for with all the stuff going on during the natural disaster. So, I expected it to be denied.
However, the tree removal with receipt from said business was also denied. Then they reach out in mid-December saying I need to submit documents from Ga Power saying we, just like most of the state, had no power during that time frame. I received that from Ga Power on 01/06/25 and submitted the next morning... Only to find out they'd closed the claim and DELETED the line item for lodging reimbursement.
Then when I called they tried to blame me for, "Not submitting the paperwork on time." I had to interject at this point and make the agent open the last correspondence from them on 12/16 and read where it said 60 days to submit from time of receipt of the request. After having them read on the recorded line what the form said they conceded they were in the wrong. Though they also said it'll be denied too. Thanks for literally nothing FEMA.
I'd have more from you had I kept the endless fliers you plastered the neighborhood with.
Maybe it should have read, "Come to the local site or go online for your rogering, because you're not getting any of your tax dollars back for any of the heartache or loss you experienced from one of the worst national disasters the state of Georgia has every experienced. Don't worry, unlike those lost groceries and other things, this boning is free!"
